Job Summary

Produce rail-civils engineering CAD deliverables for multidisciplinary projects, working primarily in Bentley tools. Manage drawing and model delivery in a common data environment (CDE) using MicroStation and ProjectWise, ensuring QA and compliance with CAD standards and metadata. Support engineers with design outputs, resolve rail civils issues through collaboration, and assist with site surveys, documentation, and mentoring junior staff where needed.

Key Responsibilities

•Produce engineering CAD deliverables (primarily Bentley products) and prepare drawings from survey/topographical data to the required design stage.
•Develop and check 2D/3D models, structure CAD designs, and ensure deliverables comply with CAD standards and QA processes.
•Proactively manage drawing and model delivery in MicroStation and within a CDE such as Projectwise, including storage, issue, and archiving.
•Support the Project Engineering Team with CAD and design support, including liaising with colleagues and resolving rail civil engineering issues.
•Assist with site surveys when required and provide training/mentoring on MicroStation and drawing/model workflows for other staff.

Key Requirements

•Proven ability to produce accurate 2D rail-civils drawings to UK standards and work through the CAD lifecycle (site data → model → drawing → QA).
•Experience developing and checking 2D/3D models for multidisciplinary rail projects, including CAD QA processes and structured drawing checks.
•Confident use of MicroStation for 3D modelling, including generating sections/views and supporting coordinated design reviews.
•Experience navigating ProjectWise (check-in/out, version control, workflow management, and document sets) with compliance to naming and document control processes.
•A base understanding of rail-civils requirements (e.g., gauges, clearances, heights, offsets, constraints) and the ability to manage time to meet deadlines and budgets.
