Key Responsibilities

  • •Oversee day-to-day operations of the Shaft Operations Team, ensuring safe shaft/hoisting operation, shaft infrastructure maintenance, and delivery of materials to underground stations.
  • •Implement systems and practices for optimum, predictable, and transparent shaft scheduling.
  • •Act as superintendent when the Superintendent Shaft Operations is offsite.
  • •Lead and coordinate a diverse team of 50+ expat and national employees, ensuring safety and compliance with Rio Tinto and industry standards, including reviewing SWPs and JHAs.
  • •Oversee rigging operations, initiate continuous improvement projects, and support operational readiness by contributing to policies and procedures for safe equipment and infrastructure operation.

Key Requirements

  • •Degree in engineering or a relevant discipline.
  • •Minimum of 5 years underground mining leadership experience.
  • •Demonstrated experience managing and/or operating shaft infrastructure.
  • •Demonstrated experience managing and/or operating underground material handling equipment.
  • •Mines rescue or underground emergency management experience and a strong commitment to safety.
