Job Summary

Install, provision, test, troubleshoot, and maintain DS0 thru OC192 services and network equipment, including fiber optic transmission and related AC/DC power systems. Manage assets and replenishment, coordinate shipping/receiving, and perform level 1 preventive maintenance on critical infrastructure such as HVAC and DC power plants. Use tools and software to locate and protect underground outside plant, update installation records and trouble tickets, and support restoration during service interruptions.

Key Responsibilities

•Manage asset and consumables processes, including deliveries and replenishment, and coordinate shipping/receiving of company and customer materials.
•Maintain tools, test sets, and network equipment; remove/replace defective modules and ensure repair.
•Assist with installation/change/decommissioning and testing of next-generation technologies (e.g., Edge Compute, Wavelength, fiber optic transport, Ethernet, SONET, IP network layers) and customer premise equipment.
•Troubleshoot network equipment and proactively identify potential problem areas to isolate and restore network service during interruptions.
•Perform level 1 preventive scheduled maintenance and inspections on network and critical infrastructure equipment (HVAC, high-voltage electrical systems, DC power plants) and maintain detailed installation and trouble ticket records.

Key Requirements

•High School Diploma or GED or up to 2 years of relevant job experience, including 1+ years network monitoring, installation, or maintenance/repair.
•Entry-level technician knowledge of at least one discipline: Transmission (DS1/DS3/SONET), Switching (circuit-switching/SS7), TCP/IP (routers/higher-layer protocols), or Outside Plant (fiber locating/OTDR/Mass Fusion Splicing).
•Knowledge of locating fiber optic cable, right-of-way, and As-Builts.
•PC skills; proficient with Microsoft Windows and Office applications, and ability to quickly learn corporate databases.
•On-call 24x7 rotational coverage, ability to lift 50 lbs, work in all weather conditions, and hold a valid driver’s license.
