Job Summary

Manage and help shape investment strategy for DTE Trust Investments, overseeing more than $11B across public and alternative/private markets and multiple trust asset pools. Lead work on asset allocation and asset-liability studies, handle investment sourcing/underwriting/due diligence and monitoring for assigned asset classes, evaluate managers versus benchmarks, and conduct legal review and negotiation of investment management agreements and contracts. Present findings to the Investment Committee and support RFPs and industry representation.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead and/or contribute to asset allocation and asset-liability studies to determine strategic asset allocation for each trust.
•Own investment sourcing, underwriting, due diligence, and ongoing monitoring for assigned asset classes (including hedge funds and/or private markets) in compliance with documentation policies.
•Help determine benchmarks for performance and risk measurement and evaluate investment managers’ risk/returns versus objectives and benchmarks, including recommendations to terminate managers when necessary.
•Develop and maintain relationships with investment managers and institutional investment community contacts to identify trends and potential access to top funds/managers.
•Independently lead legal reviews and negotiate investment management agreements/contracts and participate in periodic asset class reviews presented to the Investment Committee.

Travel: Low travel

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or an analytical/technical discipline plus at least 8 years of business/financial or quantitative analysis experience, including at least 6 years of investment experience OR an MBA plus at least 6 years of investment-related experience.
•CFA/CAIA certification can count toward 2 years of the investment experience requirement.
•Experience working with PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
•Advanced understanding of finance and financial markets, including general knowledge of ERISA, aspects of risk, and investment portfolio theory.
•Ability to work independently on complex investment issues and identify appropriate resources (external consultants, legal, tax, etc.) to drive resolution.
