Job Summary

Part-time field engineer supporting solid waste and CCR construction quality assurance for landfill projects in Michigan. You will monitor, test, and document soil, geosynthetics, and construction activities, interpret drawings and specifications, coordinate with contractors, and ensure safety and compliance across multiple local sites.

Key Responsibilities

•Field monitoring, testing, and sampling of soil and aggregate materials
•Use of a nuclear gauge and drive cylinder for soil density testing
•Geosynthetics monitoring and testing
•Interpreting construction documents (drawings, specs, and CQA Plans) to ensure work aligns with approved plans
•Generating complete, accurate documentation using electronic systems and field notebooks

Travel: High travel

Key Requirements

•High school diploma or GED
•5+ years of related experience
•Geosynthetics Certification Institute-Inspector Certification Program (GCI-ICP) certification or ability to obtain certification
•MDOT Construction Materials Testing - Soils or ability to obtain certification
•MDOT Construction Materials Testing - Concrete or ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician—Grade I (or the ability to obtain certification)
