Lead structural stress analysis for mission-critical maritime and subsea pressure-boundary enclosures, launch systems, and high-consequence structures. You’ll combine classical hand calculations with advanced FEA (including nonlinear, buckling, fatigue, and fracture mechanics) to develop design allowables, own and govern a centralized allowables database, and translate metallurgy/manufacturing inputs into actionable models. Drive coupon-to-subcomponent test campaigns and provide rapid stress dispositions for non-conformances.

Location: United States
Workplace: Onsite
Employment Type: Full time
Job Function: Industrial, Process & Manufacturing Engineering
Seniority: Mid level

Key Responsibilities

  • •Perform classical hand calculations and advanced FEA (linear, nonlinear, buckling, fatigue, and fracture mechanics) for complex maritime pressure boundaries and structural assemblies.
  • •Develop, build, and maintain statistical structural design allowables (A- and B-basis) using coupon-level test matrices for material characterization.
  • •Own the centralized allowables database and set thresholds for requalification when processes, vendor sources, or material lots change.
  • •Translate material specifications, heat treatments, and weld joint efficiencies (WPS/PQR) into finite element models and structural margin calculations with M&P and Manufacturing Engineering.
  • •Drive structural test programs from coupon-level mechanical testing through full-scale subcomponent qualification and execute stress dispositions for non-conformances.
