Key Responsibilities

  • •Serve as Group technical authority for mining practices across open pit and underground operations and provide expert technical support to managed and non-managed operations.
  • •Develop and optimise mine designs, mining methods, production strategies, and operating practices to maximise asset value and improve stability and reduce variation.
  • •Facilitate continuous improvement and modernisation by optimising mining systems, equipment utilisation, operational performance, and technical standards across the consolidated portfolio.
  • •Conduct governance, assurance, and risk management, including setting technical standards for catastrophic risk and reviewing mine plans, production strategies, capital projects, and technical assumptions.
  • •Deliver techno-economic modelling and support studies, resource and reserve reporting, and updates to supply strategy scenarios to optimise NPV and the reserve-to-resource ratio.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering (or equivalent).
  • •Minimum 12–15 years’ mining industry experience, including at least 5 years at Mining Manager or Technical Services Manager level leading hard rock, underground, and open pit production environments.
  • •Lead safety leadership and risk management to ensure safe, compliant, sustainable mining operations.
  • •Demonstrated experience integrating mine planning with operational execution to drive safety, production, and cost performance across a multi-site portfolio.
  • •Preferred: Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency (where applicable) and postgraduate qualification or professional registration (SAIMM, ECSA Pr Eng, or equivalent).
