Key Responsibilities

  • •Own and lead Stripe’s end-to-end India tax agenda, setting priorities and providing practical advice on material India tax matters.
  • •Manage India tax controversy, including risk assessment, audit and litigation strategy, responses to notices, engagement with tax authorities, and dispute resolution.
  • •Identify emerging India tax risks and opportunities, maintain visibility into exposures, and communicate recommendations to senior Tax, Finance, and business stakeholders.
  • •Build and maintain robust India tax controls, documentation, and audit-ready processes in partnership with Accounting and other teams.
  • •Advise on India aspects of new products, commercial arrangements, entity and operating-model changes, intercompany transactions, and policy/regulatory implementation.

Key Requirements

  • •12+ years of relevant India tax experience with proven ownership of complex tax matters in a Big 4, law firm, and/or multinational organization.
  • •A professional qualification such as Chartered Accountant or lawyer, with deep technical knowledge of Indian corporate and indirect tax law.
  • •Hands-on experience leading India tax audits, assessments, appeals, or litigation, including developing controversy strategy and engaging with tax authorities and advisers.
  • •Broad working knowledge of Indian direct and indirect taxes, transfer pricing, and withholding tax, with ownership of compliance, controls, controversy, and business advisory for a multinational group.
  • •Strong judgment and communication skills to translate complex tax issues into clear, pragmatic recommendations for senior, non-tax stakeholders.
