Job Summary

Lead field operations for protection and control (P&C) testing and energization projects, providing technical guidance, hands-on relay testing, and oversight of day-to-day site activities. Execute and validate advanced testing sequences on high-voltage substations, ensure safety and quality compliance, and coordinate with engineers, scientists, subcontractors, and clients. Mentor technicians, manage site logistics and readiness, document field work using digital tools, and support incident response, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead field operations by providing expert technical guidance, hands-on execution, and oversight of day-to-day site activities.
•Perform testing and commissioning of Protection and Control systems on high-voltage substations.
•Conduct on-site protective relay testing and independently execute and validate advanced protection and control testing sequences aligned with test plans and standards.
•Lead field crews by assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and ensuring consistency across work streams; mentor junior and mid-level technicians.
•Follow safety protocols and implement site health and safety procedures, documenting work and coordinating with clients, contractors, vendors, and project leadership.

Key Requirements

•High school diploma or equivalent.
•Minimum 11 years of experience in the electrical testing industry, including medium/high-voltage circuit breakers, power transformers, instrument transformers, and substation P&C testing.
•Expertise on transmission, generation, or distribution relays and protective schemes (e.g., SEL, Basler, Beckwith, GE families).
•Advanced technical skills for protective relay calibration and testing, including Omicron CMC 256/356 and Doble F6150, control scheme testing, CT/PT circuit testing, and static/dynamic microprocessor relay testing.
•Proven experience with field testing standards and data-review software (e.g., NETA, IEEE, NFPA; ProTesT, Protection Suite, ENOSERV RTS, Omicron Test Universe, AcSELerator Quickset).
