Key Responsibilities

  • •Act as the main point of contact for the CEO and leadership team for expert guidance on high-level people decisions, risk management, and continuity.
  • •Line manage the full-time HR Assistant, set priorities, oversee workload delivery, run 1:1s, and provide coaching for progression.
  • •Own and manage serious high-risk employee relations matters, including senior grievances, gross misconduct disciplinaries, complex sickness capability, and potential discrimination claims.
  • •Provide structured coaching and mentorship to build the HR Assistant’s confidence and autonomy in casework decisions.
  • •Review and sign off on final formal outcomes, settlement agreements, and complex occupational health escalations to safeguard the business against legal exposure.

Key Requirements

  • •7+ years of HR experience at manager/senior level.
  • •Up-to-date expert knowledge of UK employment law with hands-on leadership of complex employee relations cases from investigation to outcome.
  • •Proven ability to influence, collaborate with, and constructively challenge executive-level stakeholders.
  • •Demonstrated passion for mentoring and fast-tracking the growth of junior to mid-level HR team members.
  • •CIPD Level 7 qualification (or equivalent heavyweight corporate/consulting experience).
