Key Responsibilities

  • •Spray paint vehicles, special weapons items, guided missile systems, and related equipment using enamel, lacquer, and vinyl materials for protection and appearance.
  • •Apply specialty coatings and camouflage finishes (including multi-color irregular patterns) for exterior surfaces and critical cosmetic appearance.
  • •Mix, thin, and adjust paints with dryers or flattening agents, maintain spray tanks and air pressure, and blend paints for proper finish and thickness.
  • •Read and interpret technical manuals, DMWRs, technical bulletins, and prints to determine paint types, colors, and required markings.
  • •Prepare, clean, and maintain painting equipment (including nozzles and restrictors), perform surface inspection, and follow all safety requirements; provide guidance to lower-grade employees as needed.

Key Requirements

  • •3-5 years of experience in vehicle painting required.
  • •High school diploma/GED or normal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.
  • •Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, Depot Maintenance Work Requirements (DMWRs), and technical bulletins to determine paint types, colors, and markings.
  • •Experience applying specialty coatings and finishes using spray equipment and stencils/silk screens/decals.
  • •This position may be assigned to work 2nd shift based on workload and operational requirements.
