Job Summary

Build and lead end-to-end data pipelines and the transformation layer for enterprise analytics at Workday’s Enterprise Data & Analytics team. Serve as the dbt subject matter expert, defining modeling standards and governing data product development from prototyping to production. Partner with product owners, data analysts, and GTM/Finance leaders to deliver high-impact initiatives, solve complex data domain problems, and mentor engineers while driving unified enterprise metrics. Collaborate on database architectures, testing, and documentation for scalable, trusted data.

Key Responsibilities

•Architect, design, and lead scalable, reliable data pipelines and the transformation layer.
•Own dbt standards and best practices; manage the full lifecycle of dimensional models and metrics from prototyping to production.
•Partner cross-functionally with product owners, data analysts, and business leaders to scope and deliver analytics initiatives.
•Operate as an independent individual contributor delivering architecturally sound solutions with ownership of critical data domains.
•Mentor and coach junior and mid-level engineers while improving engineering rigor, code quality, and technical excellence.
•Design and build database architectures for large-scale data volumes with attention to performance and warehouse cost efficiency.
•Identify and address technical debt by improving tooling, automating workflows, and streamlining transformation and deployment.
•Maintain documentation for data models, processes, workflows, and systems.
•Drive adoption of unified enterprise metric definitions through stakeholder alignment.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 155,400 - 276,000 annually

Key Requirements

•7+ years of professional experience in an Analytics Engineering or Data Engineering role in a SaaS or high-tech environment.
•7+ years of professional experience with SQL and production experience with a major cloud data warehouse (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift).
•Extensive experience with dbt, including advanced features such as macros, packages, source freshness, and custom tests.
•Strong familiarity with version control (GitHub), CI/CD, and modern development workflows.
•Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and dimensional modeling.
