Job Summary

Senior Geotechnical Engineer responsible for leading geotechnical investigations, performing analysis and design, and mentoring junior staff within Melbourne’s Ground Engineering and Tunnelling team. Will oversee site investigations, interpret reports, and contribute to bid work while collaborating with Engineers, Engineering Geologists and Hydrogeologists on multidisciplinary infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

•Provide technical input and oversight from investigation through to design and construction phases.
•Lead geotechnical site investigations (drilling, sampling, in-situ testing) and coordinate related activities.
•Prepare Geotechnical Interpretive Reports and specify geotechnical design parameters.
•Mentor junior staff and support collaborative project delivery.
•Ensure compliance with relevant standards, guidelines, and safety procedures.

Key Requirements

•6–8 years’ geotechnical engineering experience with demonstrated capability in site investigations and geotechnical analysis and design.
•Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in civil engineering or geological equivalent.
•Proficiency with geotechnical software (OpenGround/gINT, Rocscience, GeoStudio, SLOPE/W, Leapfrog or similar).
•Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams.
•Current Class C driver’s licence; willingness to undertake fieldwork and travel.
