Job Summary

Join AECOM’s Ground Engineering UK & Ireland team as a Graduate Geotechnical Engineer and Engineering Geologist. Support desk studies, site inspections, and geological mapping, contribute to planning and procurement of ground investigations, and help supervise fieldwork. Interpret geological data, prepare interpretative reports, and assist with geotechnical analysis, ground model development, and design reporting for foundations, retaining walls, and slope stability—using tools such as Openground and Leapfrog.

Key Responsibilities

•Conduct desk studies, site inspections, rockface surveys, and geomorphological mapping.
•Assist with the design, planning, and procurement of ground investigations.
•Support supervision of ground investigation fieldwork.
•Perform geological interpretation and prepare interpretative reports.
•Help analyze geotechnical data and contribute to ground models and geotechnical design/reporting for foundations and stability topics.

Travel: Low travel

Key Requirements

•Hold a degree in Civil Engineering or Engineering Geology/Geology with a 2:1 (or equivalent) or above.
•Have an MSc/MEng in Soil Mechanics, Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology (advantage).
•Be competent with Microsoft Office; experience with AutoCAD/Civil 3D is desirable.
•Interest in geotechnical projects and promoting geotechnical activities with clients.
•Willing and able to work away from home on sites and towards professional qualifications (ICE, IOM3, or The Geological Society).
