Job Summary

Support environmental performance and compliance for an underground coal mine, planning and implementing site environmental projects focused on land management and rehabilitation. Manage environmental contractors, execute progressive rehabilitation targets, and oversee erosion and sediment control. Advise on land disturbance and permitting, develop and implement environmental management plans (land, vegetation, cultural heritage, water, waste), and support reporting and assurance while engaging the broader workforce to build environmental awareness.

Key Responsibilities

•Support the environment function for an underground coal mine and help drive environmental performance and compliance with corporate and legislative requirements.
•Plan, develop, and implement site environmental projects with a focus on land management and rehabilitation.
•Manage and supervise environmental contractors and consultants delivering rehabilitation, waste management, weed and pest work.
•Oversee progressive rehabilitation target execution and erosion/sediment control monitoring and implementation.
•Develop and implement environmental management plans and systems, and support environmental reporting and assurance while building environmental awareness across the workforce.

Key Requirements

•Tertiary qualifications in environmental science, engineering, or an equivalent discipline.
•4+ years of practical experience managing environmental and civil engineering projects in the resources or mining industry (preferably coal).
•Supervisor qualifications S1, S2, S3 & G2 (or capable of obtaining).
•Demonstrated experience contributing to delivery against set targets and working with risk management processes and contractor management.
•Experience interpreting environmental data and using ArcGIS (Pro) or similar mapping software; Rehabilitation Permit and Venomous Snake Relocation Course are advantageous.
