Key Responsibilities

  • •Assess data processing pipelines against cost, efficiency, and reliability targets; prototype solutions to validate feasibility and measure results against KPIs.
  • •Lead hands-on technical work: write and review code, set engineering quality standards, and mentor lead and senior engineers.
  • •Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders to build the case for change and align with Mastercard’s ecosystem.
  • •Maintain a clear view of how the data platform fits into the broader technology landscape and identify opportunities to consolidate on shared platforms.
  • •Review requirements critically, surface concerns early, and maintain momentum while ensuring high-quality delivery.

Key Requirements

  • •Deep experience designing and operating large-scale data processing pipelines, able to reason about pipeline architecture, cost, performance, and reliability.
  • •Extensive hands-on experience with Spark and Databricks; proficiency in Scala or Java, with Python experience a plus.
  • •Experience with distributed systems, cloud infrastructure (AWS), security, and reliability engineering.
  • •Ability to prototype and assess technical proposals with data, defining measurable success criteria to support recommendations.
  • •Clear communicator who can explain technical decisions to engineers, product owners, and business stakeholders; mentorship oriented.
