Key Responsibilities

  • •Review contractor/design-builder Health and Safety Plan submittals and identify trends and areas of concern in implementation.
  • •Provide oversight of contractor/design-builder safety programs, including reporting, audits, inspections, and training.
  • •Perform regular safety inspections and audits and prepare daily reports with photos and detailed observations, findings, deficiencies, and corrective measures.
  • •Confirm compliance with OSHA, NYC Fire Department (FDNY), NYC Department of Buildings (NYCDOB), local laws, and applicable regulations; implement project-specific safety programs.
  • •Lead incident and near-miss investigations with root-cause analysis and recommendations to prevent recurrences; develop and implement site-specific Accident Prevention Program (APP).

Key Requirements

  • •Minimum 7 years of construction safety oversight experience, including investigations and accident prevention on construction sites or related fields.
  • •Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management or Construction Management, or a degree in a safety-related field from an accredited institution (or equivalent).
  • •OSHA 30-hour construction safety certificate.
  • •Experience as the head of safety on at least one transit or commuter rail project.
  • •Successful completion of the 40-hour NYC-Department of Buildings Site Safety Manager Course.
